The State Agency on Energy Efficiency: Reconstruction of Ukrainian cities will be an expression of our values - energy independence, energy efficiency, green transition

The reconstruction of Ukrainian cities will become an embodiment of our values - energy independence, energy efficiency, and green transition. The point made by Mariia Mala, First Deputy Chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, at the opening of the final marathon "Energy Efficiency in Action!" under the project "Energy Efficiency for Journalists, universities, municipalities by specialists."

I am grateful to our German partner GIZ for this project, an excellent demonstration of the consolidation of various target groups that are crucial for the development of energy efficiency in Ukraine. Architects, builders, journalists, educators, and local authorities are among them. All of them are drivers of energy-efficient reconstruction of Ukrainian communities," noted Maria Mala.

"Ukraine is challenged to design and construct in line with the latest technologies and safety issues, and most importantly, the global principle of sustainable development and decarbonization. The restored buildings will also become a benchmark for future reconstructions.

Norman Foster, a UK architect, stated that "architecture is an expression of values". Therefore, I believe that the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities will become a manifestation of the European values that the Ukrainian people defend with high sacrifice - freedom, energy, independence, sustainable development, and green transition. Given the fact that the country is already working on reconstruction, I am convinced that we will also exceed the expectations of our partners», Maria Malaya said.

The First Deputy Chairperson also drew attention to the need for active outreach and education in energy efficiency. It is important to explain the benefits of energy-saving and clean technologies to consumers and motivate them to change the culture of energy consumption.
