German Galushchenko and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink discuss large-scale repair campaign in the energy sector and strengthening the resilience of the energy system

Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko met with United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink. The parties discussed cooperation in the process of restoring and strengthening the resilience of the energy system of Ukraine.

A special focus was made on the forthcoming heating season, which could be quite challenging given the likely continuation of ongoing russian attacks on energy infrastructure..

Herman Galushchenko emphasized that Ukraine is engaged in its largest-ever maintenance of energy infrastructure and is taking measures to improve the physical defense of energy infrastructure and generation decentralization. He stressed that it involves the maximum number of experts to restore damaged facilities, in particular the transmission systems, as quickly as possible and protect them against future hostile attacks. The Minister of Energy noted that the most reliable protection for energy infrastructure is air defense systems.

The Minister thanked the United States for its assistance to the energy sector of Ukraine and briefed the Ambassador on the current needs of energy campaigns.

The meeting also focused on ensuring nuclear and radiation safety at the russian-occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP, as well as international cooperation to increase pressure on russia in the nuclear sector.
