Modular Housing Complex for Internally Displaced Persons

Partners / Participants / Donors: Ukrainian Red Cross Society in cooperation with Chernihiv City Council.

Objective: To provide internally displaced persons with temporary housing.

Completed works: Construction of a modular housing complex comprising 7 two-story buildings with 112 apartments, surrounding infrastructure, a transport interchange, and landscaping of the adjacent area.

Reconstruction of Artesian Well No. 3 at the Water Supply Pumping Station

Partners / Participants / Donors: Save the Children.

Objective: Restoration of the artesian well destroyed by a direct strike.

Completed works: A new above-ground pavilion was constructed and modern equipment was installed.

Reconstruction of the Water Supply System

Partners / Participants / Donors: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, ReACT4UA, the Government of Germany, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

Objective: To restore uninterrupted water supply for residents and businesses, support Chernihiv’s economic recovery, and facilitate the return of businesses.

Completed works: The project is nearing completion: more than 2 km of 400 mm-diameter water pipeline has been replaced. Completion is expected by the end of August 2024.

Construction of a Modular Hospital

Partners / Participants / Donors: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

Objective: To construct a modular hospital to expand healthcare services for the wounded, war-affected individuals, and internally displaced persons.

Completed works: Construction of an autonomous modular outpatient diagnostic department with a capacity of 200 patients per day, equipped with modern medical equipment.

Reconstruction of Pipelines of the Centralized District Heating System

Partners / Participants / Donors: Nordic Environment Finance Cooperation (NEFCO).

Objective: To modernize 7.4 km of heating networks to ensure reliable heat supply to the residents of Chernihiv.

Completed works: All construction works envisaged by the project objective have been completed; the project is at the final stage of implementation.

Development of the Heat Supply Scheme for the City of Chernihiv

Partners / Participants / Donors: Tetra Tech ES, Inc., the implementer of the Energy Security Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Objective: To improve the environmental situation by creating zones with reduced environmental impact from the centralized heating system and optimizing the heat carrier distribution system in connection with heat generation sources.

Completed works: A heat supply scheme for the Chernihiv City Territorial Community has been developed.

Reconstruction of a Damaged General Secondary Education Institution

Partners / Participants / Donors: Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project

Objective: To restore access to the school affected by Russian shelling in Ukraine through capital repair works and the renovation of the school kitchen.

Completed works: Capital repair of Chernihiv Gymnasium No. 13, including the refurbishment and modernization of the school kitchen.

Installation of Modular Housing for Internally Displaced Persons and Provision of Equipment for Preschools

Partners / Participants / Donors: Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia.
Objective: To provide affected residents with modular housing and equip preschools in Chernihiv with playgrounds, equipment, and furniture.
Completed works: 12 modular houses were installed and furnished; furniture was provided for preschools, and children’s playgrounds were installed at preschool facilities.

Construction of Apartment Buildings for Internally Displaced Persons and a Preschool in the Masany Neighborhood

Partners / Participants / Donors: GAU Foundation.

Objective: To construct housing complexes for internally displaced persons during the war and build a preschool.

Completed works: The project is currently under implementation.

International Technical Assistance Project “Emergency Reconstruction and Recovery Project”

Partners / Participants / Donors: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), funded by the Government of Japan.

Objective: To develop public-private partnerships for energy security, sustainable economic development, and emergency recovery.

Completed works: 15 units of heavy municipal equipment were received.

“Viability: Economic Integration of Internally Displaced Persons and War-Affected People”

Partners / Participants / Donors: International Organization for Migration (IOM), funded by the German Development Bank KfW.

Objective: To promote the socio-economic recovery of the Chernihiv City Territorial Community, including through targeted measures aimed at supporting infrastructure recovery.

Completed works: Establishment of an economic hub, support for a veterans’ space, installation of a solar power plant, and development of an innovation and startup center.
