The Mukachevo City Territorial Community comprises the city of Mukachevo and the following settlements: Barbovo, Horbok, Dertsen, Dorobratovo, Zavydovo, Zaluzhzhia, Kliucharky, Lavky, Makaryovo, Nehrovo, Nyzhnii Koropets, Nove Davydkovo, Pavshyno, Pistryalovo, Romochevytsia, Fornosh, and Schönborn — 18 settlements in total.

Mukachevo is located in the southwestern part of Zakarpattia, near the borders with Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. It is one of the region’s key transport and logistics hubs, with strong potential for cross-border trade, investment, and international partnerships.

STRATEGIC LOCATION AND ACCESS TO THE EU

40–50 km from the borders with Hungary and Slovakia, and 90–100 km from Poland and Romania. International road and rail routes to Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava, and Prague pass through Mukachevo.

Mukachevo ranks No. 2 in Zakarpattia in terms of economic potential and No. 1 among the region’s cities in terms of exports of goods and services. The city is home to major exporting enterprises and foreign-invested manufacturing facilities.

Mukachevo ranks No. 1 among the cities of Zakarpattia in terms of capital investment per capita. Industrial development, modernization of production, renewable energy, and infrastructure upgrades have been identified as key investment drivers.

Digital Competence Development Concept

Community Recovery and Capacity Building (HREF)

Partners / Participants / Donors: International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Mukachevo City Council.

Objective: Supporting the recovery and development of the community, strengthening its resilience, and implementing inclusive and gender-responsive solutions for the war-affected population.

Completed Works: As part of the project, the reconstruction of Feldsher-Midwife Station No. 4 in the village of Lavky and its provision with modern medical equipment are currently underway. The project also includes the repair (restoration) of the roof of the Mukachevo Drama Theatre, as well as the construction of a new veterans’ space in Mukachevo.

Reconstruction of the Dental Clinic (Building “Ya”) into a Multifunctional Center and Temporary Housing

Partners / Participants / Donors: International Health and Environmental Foundation “Carpathian Region” NEEKA and Mukachevo City Council.

Objective: The project will result in the creation of a medical and social assistance center and temporary housing for 42 people, designed in accordance with accessibility and safety requirements.

Impact: The project has not yet been completed, so no actual impact has been documented in the available materials. The project is expected to expand the community’s capacity to provide medical and social services and temporary housing for IDPs.
