Implementation of an Energy Storage System (BESS) for the Municipal Enterprise “Vodokanal”

The project involves the installation of a modern Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the facilities of the municipal utility company “Vodokanal” to ensure uninterrupted operations during emergency and scheduled power outages.

Reconstruction of the Wastewater Treatment Facilities of the Korosten Municipal Enterprise “Vodokanal”

The project involves the comprehensive modernization of the existing wastewater treatment facilities through the implementation of modern mechanical, biological and, where necessary, chemical wastewater treatment technologies.

● Natural potential: the Drevlyanskyi Park, featuring Princess Olha’s bathing site and natural landscape landmarks.
● Railway connections: Korosten is a major railway junction. Following attacks on railway infrastructure in January 2026, direct connections with cities across Ukraine are limited.
● Road connections: the M-07 international highway (Kyiv–Yahodyn) and regional roads run through the community.

Construction of a 150 kW Solar Power Plant on the Premises of Korosten Central City Hospital

Grant Provider: GIZ
Partners: NGO “EcoClub”
Objective: Improving the facility’s energy efficiency during power outages and ensuring uninterrupted provision of medical services. Solar panels have been installed, reducing reliance on the centralized power supply and improving the healthcare facility’s energy efficiency and energy independence during power outages.

Construction of a 100 kW Solar Power Plant at the Wastewater Treatment Facilities

Partners / Participants / Donors: Implemented through an ESCO mechanism with the support of UNDP.
Objective: Reducing the load on the centralized power supply system and improving the energy efficiency of the wastewater treatment facilities.

Reconstruction of the 8-Storey Building of Korosten Central City Hospital

Partner: Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration (Zhytomyr OVA)
The project is being implemented through the Ukraine Recovery Programme. It is currently at the implementation stage and includes interior works and the procurement of equipment.

Construction of a Facility at Korosten City Hospital to House an MRI Scanner

Partners / Participants / Donors: Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV)
The construction of an additional facility to house an MRI scanner, along with the procurement of equipment, will enhance the hospital’s capacity and improve access to high-quality diagnostics for residents of the community and Korosten District, eliminating the need to travel to the regional centre.

Modernization of Street Lighting

Replacement of existing street lamps with energy-efficient lighting fixtures to reduce reliance on the centralized electricity supply.

Installation of a Modular Cogeneration Unit for the Boiler House of the Municipal Utility Company “Teplozabezpechennia”

Objective: Simultaneous generation of heat and electricity, improving the boiler house’s energy efficiency, reducing operating costs, and ensuring uninterrupted heat supply to critical infrastructure facilities even in the event of emergency power outages.

Objective: Improving conditions for children and staff at the facility and reducing energy costs.

Completed works:
Renovation of the maternity ward and provision of medical equipment; renovation of shelters in 2 lyceums and 3 kindergartens; opening of a youth centre and youth space; renovation of the Social Services Centre; provision of pumping equipment for the municipal water utility; and training for staff on budget planning with a focus on children’s needs.
