HELP FROM ITALY IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR BOOSTING OF RESILIENCE OF THE UKRAINIAN ENERGY SYSTEM
Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with the Italian delegation headed by the Special Envoy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Reconstruction and Resilience of Ukraine Davide La Cecilia and with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Ukraine Pier Francesco Zazo.
⚒ German Galushchenko thanked Italy for 15 humanitarian aid shipments totalling over 161 tonnes that have already been delivered to Ukraine and spoke about the current needs of the energy sector, in particular, high-voltage equipment. According to the Energy Minister, the enemy is expected to continue targeted shelling of energy infrastructure facilities next winter, so it is important not only to carry out restoration and repair work at the affected facilities, but also to accumulate sufficient reserves in warehouses to promptly restore power supply to consumers.
⚡️The Minister also emphasised that electricity imports from European countries could play an important role in balancing the system next winter. Ukraine is counting on ENTSO-E's decision to increase the capacity from the current 1.2 GW to 2 GW.
The parties discussed areas of cooperation in the gas sector, including the implementation of projects in the field of renewable gases and hydrogen production. The high potential of cooperation for the implementation of modern energy-efficient and carbon-free technologies🌱 and projects in the process of Ukraine's post-war recovery was accentuated.
The meeting also touched upon the issues of ensuring energy security of Ukraine and the European continent as a whole. German Halushchenko stressed that the Peace Formula proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy provides clear proposals that will not only resolve the potentially dangerous situation at the russian-occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP, but also offers new forms of global cooperation to ensure energy security.
